homecoming

I've been on an active search for my next dog for awhile. I found her yesterday, at the Petaluma Shelter.

Look who's coming home on Tuesday. She's going to come stay with me for a week or so, so that she and I can get to know each other and make sure this is right.

Here I am, a little pink piglet.

This beautiful girl is super soft, easy and squishy. A love bug. Has had about 100 puppies. A deep soul. Just wants to hang out quietly.

Here I am the day I met my new Lady. I liked her very much.

The shelter named her Amber. That doesn't seem quite right to me. Do you have any suggestions for her new name?

  1. You're back! Missed you and your Birdy stories!! She is prolly doing a happy dance at the Rainbow Bridge knowing that you are saving another life. Little Miss Piggy looks so cute!! Can't wait to hear all about her.

  3. I'm so excited about this! She sounds lovely--and no, Amber doesn't seem quite right. I'll mull this over to see if anything comes to me. (Do you like people names for dogs?) I'm really looking forward hearing all about this sweet and squishy retired mama coming into your life. And yes, I'm sure Bird is thrilled!

    1. Colleen, I like both human and non- human names.

  4. She's beautiful! I so hope your "test drive" works out.

Regarding names, I'm not wild about "Amber," either, and hope you find the perfect moniker for your new girl. Some ideas? How about Petal (get it?), Fleur, or Piggy?

I hope life is going well for you. I continue to miss knowing Birdy's on this earth, and I still look forward to your blog posts.

    1. Petal? Um no. I feel kinda dumb, I don't get it. Thanks for your kind words.

  5. Oh she is beautiful. Perhaps the name Esperanza or espy for short.I think Fayezilla's name of petal is cute (perhaps she is using a sort of play on words with a homonym) Pedal vs petal as in another name for wheel. That is my guess. I am so very happy for you that you have found another life to save. I am sure Birdy will use her pup powers from heaven to bless this new union.

  6. I think Petal for Petaluma but that is just a guess as to what Fayezilla meant. Here are a few that I thought of based on things that you said and random things that just popped up.

    Bailey
    Cinna
    Tuesday
    Velvet
    Mysti
    Bug
    Fancy
    Sweetheart
    Honey

and since you said she was squishy that made me think of squash so how about:
    Butternut
    Pattypan

I named one of my furkids Asparagus and we call him 'Gus for short so I like the odd names. :-)

    1. Christina, these are fantastic suggestions! Thank you so much. Velvet had come toons because she is so velvety. Both how she looks and how her soul feels. I like your names because they are quirky, original and seem to capture aspects of this girl really well. I will ponder. And your suggestions helped jump start my brain.

  7. she's beautiful! i'm not very creative, but i'm thinking...

    Pinky
    Piglet (or Piggy)
    Rose (or Rosie)
    Violet

i really like Petal (as Christina suggested) but for some reason it sounds weird to me when i say it out loud.

i'll see if i can come up with anything else... i'm bad at this though. but she looks so, so sweet! i've known a few pit bulls who've had a lot of babies like her, and they've all been mellow and super sweet, really nice and loving dogs. good luck to both of you!

  9. Wonderful news. What a beauty. How about Mya or Cinnamon or Anna? I know you will come up with a perfect name once you get to know her better. Very happy for the both of you.
