It's like I've always been here

One minute I was on the streets of Oakland, a starving skeleton. Then the nice car lady saved me, and two hops later I was in the BadRap Barn with Donna and Tim and Uncle Elliot and Honky Tonk and the two red girls. Warm and safe. They fed me teensy meals until my belly finally stopped screaming.

Then we found out that I have lymphoma. I imagine they wondered what to do with me. I bet they wondered who'd want a sick old bag of bones like me. But they didn't know about all the parts of me. They didn't know that I used to be loved by someone who took good care of me. Something bad happened, but before that, it was good.

So I had to tell them. Loud. So I could get on with my life. I admit, my body is kind of a wreck. But I have loads of living left to do. I guess they listened because they found me Nice Lady, and now I'm home. Again. Where I belong.

Now, I get lots of food. We even stopped on the way home the first day and got cheeseburgers. So far, I've had bully sticks, peanut butter kongs, chicken, kongs filled with liver kong stuffin', jerky sticks, and more bully sticks. My job is to make my ribs disappear.

And I get to sleep on the bed with Nice Lady.

Funny how life goes, don't you think? One day I'm in hell. Then it couldn't be better.

I. Am. Grateful.

  9. So Miss Birdy, I have noticed that you have not been wearing a coat or anything-just looks like a harness. I am sure Nice Lady has you in a warm environment but just in case you feel like you want to wear something...I sew. I just got done making one of my dogs "Doggy Longjohns" and can make T-shirts, coats etc. I would be honored to make you some comfy clothes if you would send me your measurements from base of neck to base of tail and your favorite color. I make stretchy stuff so your other measurements are not needed-since I am sure they are expanding with the wonderful goodies Nice Lady is giving you! If you would like to take me up on my offer have Nice Lady email me at MRSMOOS@aol.com and put in subject line "Miss Birdy" so I will se it right away. We can then figure out the details!
Thanks to Nice Lady for being...well, SUPER NICE and thanks to you, Miss Birdy for being...well, YOU!

  11. Dear MrsMoos,
Nice Lady said she would email you about a doggy long john for me. Thank you for thinking of me. I wear a harness because I have big lymphoma lumps around my neck, and a collar hurts. It's nice and warm in the house, but I would still like to be wrapped up in one of your doggie long john blankies. The love would keep me warm. Love, Birdy

  12. I will make you some super special--well, let's not call them longjohns-doesn't sound right for a girl like you. Can't call them pajamas because I think you will be too busy to use them much for PJs. Something more along the lines of a doggie yoga outfit. You know, the kind you can either do yoga or lay on the couch in. So I will wait to hear about your size and fav colors from Nice Lady.
Oh and I have dealt with lymphoma lumps before--I should have figured that out...
