my blue eye

The Lady tells me she can't stop staring into my blue eye. She can't stop talking to me either. Especially when we're snuggled in bed together in the morning, when I wake her up. She tells me about her relationship problems. She talks to me about book ideas. What she might make for dinner. What adventures we'll have. I guess this isn't so strange. But she asks me so many questions. About what I think, and what should she do. Don't you think that's odd? But I listen anyway. And lick her face to let her know I care, even if I don't have any answers for her.

  1. Birdy, that's normal for pit bull people. There is even a great organization that matches up vets with PTSD with pups, all because of a little pit bull named Cheyenne. Check out Dave's story below.

  2. @Dianne: That is incredibly cool. Nice Lady said she was sending an email to p2v to see about volunteering too. She said she used to volunteer with Soldiers' Angels, but likes this even better, because, well you know, the pit bulls.

  3. I talk to my dog all the time and ask her all sorts of questions, the sillier the better. If you can't reach the Nice Lady's face to lick her, wagging your tail in response will make her equally happy. But don't sell yourself short; I reckon you're a repository of a great deal of canine wisdom.

  4. Birdy, I am a disabled vet with PTSD as well and I know my sweet pibble mix makes everyday so much better. She listens to me ramble about my fears and worries and licks my tears away on the hard days. And bless your Nice Lady for doing Soldiers Angels. They were amazing to me during one of my deployments :)

  5. @Molls - these dogs are such a comfort, yes? I had another pit bull, Frannie, who was the canine love of my life. When she heard me upstairs crying, she'd dash up the stairs to come lick the tears off my face. Sorry about the PTSD. Thank you for your service.
