I need to vent

The Lady is bugging me. You'll notice I'm not calling her Nice Lady.

We know my body is a wreck, but since we've been to the vet, she's trying to remedy some of my problems. She thinks she's helping. I just see it as messing with me.

I have owies on my nose, kind of crusty, bloody, dried up scabs. She's been trying to swipe some Vitamin E on the crustiest parts. I yank my snout away, but it's like she's oblivious and keeps trying to get that goo on me.

I also have a lot of itching and hot spots. She tried spraying Vetericyn on me and I wasn't having any of that either. I snuck up real fast just to get the jerky bits she used to try to lure me closer, but I'm not stupid.

I have weepy eyes too, but the most she tries to do is wipe them every once in a while when they get really bad.

Here I am with my weepy eyes. I think it looks
like I am a club diva with lots of eye liner.

AND...enough with the camera. I don't like it. She doesn't seem to be getting the message, even though I've started turning away when she points her iPhone at me. If she'd look at her Camera Roll, she'd notice that 90% of the photos are me with my back turned to her. Hello!!!!

Here I am sulking, with my back turned.

On the plus side, the food has been out of this world.

  1. Birdy try to cut Nice Lady some slack. She is smitten with you so you must be understanding of her attraction to you and try to humor her!!!

  2. Alas, sometimes being loved means you get more attention than you want! I'm afraid love sometimes takes the form of scab swiping and camera pointing as well as awesome food. Hopefully the additional oil in your food will help your skin itchiness calm down some!

    1. Yes, sometimes love comes in uncomfortable forms. Everything is calming down quite a bit with the high grade fish oil I've been giving her.

  3. I bet a week or so on that new scrumptious diet and your skin/eye problems will get better Miss Birdy. Meanwhile, just keep on eating!

  4. Those eyes melt my heart! Over the 16+ years I took care of my doggie Onyx, she had serious skin issues for a while and I tried many things. Other than a grain free diet, one of the most successful things I used on her remaining hot spots and skin eruptions was organic virgin coconut oil. If it's used in an area where Birdy can reach, she will likely lick it off (yummy!). I think the smell will entice her to stick around while you apply to her face where she can't get to it. It's supposed to be antibacterial, antifungal, etc. but please do your own research as I'm not a vet ;)

  5. Extra fish oil will help the skin problems. Add it to her food or in a capsule plus it will be a plus for her heart. Maybe a t shirt to cover her up so she can't get to the skin issues.

    1. I've added Iceland Pure high grade fish oil for dogs to her diet. No capsules, just pumped right into her dog bowl. It's definitely helping with what can be seen with the eye - her fur is shinier, and her skin is less dry. And she has the Thundershirt now, so she can't scratch herself like she had been. - Birdy's mom
